History of the Trolley System
The Tuscaloosa Transit Authority system is the public transit system for the City of Tuscaloosa. "Trolleys" began running in Tuscaloosa in the 1800's and were brought back in 1999. First, the "Trolleys" were used in the downtown area and for the University of Alabama Home Football Games. Now it has been expanded and "Trolleys" are on all 4 fixed routes.
Fixed Route Services
All fixed route vehicles provide transportation beginning at 5:00 A.M. running until 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The last run of the day begins at 5:00 P.M.
Demand Response Vans 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
The demand reponse vans begin at 6:00 A.M. and run until 6:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. We have 5 demand response vans that are utilized to transport individuals "curb to curb" to medical appointments, dialysis, etc. If you are not a current client please call our office to request an application for service. Special rules and limitations do apply so please contact our office for further information. Cost is $2.00 each time you board.
